Fire Minister on spot, Committee suspects sabotage in Salt Lake Pandal ablaze

Souvik Sarkar, Sting Newz Correspondent, Kolkata: The Durga Puja Pandal of Salt Lake FD Block turned into ashes totally when a sudden fire broke out at the Puja Pandal early on Wednesday, a fire-brigade sources said. There was the decision to immerse the Durga idols on this very day. While the Committee sources alleged conspiracy behind the fire, the Fire Minister Sujit Bose rushed the spot too and ordered an investigation against the mishap.

It was around 6 am. on Wednesday. One of the security personnels suddenly found the Puja Pandal to catch fire from the side of community hall at its back side. Soon the security men and Puja Committee members jumped out to control it. But most part of it turned into inferno quickly and even before arrival of fire tenders.

Puja Committee took it as a case of sabotage. Banibrata Bandopadhyay, the President of Association of FD Block said,”  We had the decision to immerse the idols today. But the fire engulfed all. Methinks, there’s a conspiracy behind it.”

Fire Minister Sujit Bose rushed the spot soon. He said,” The fire brigades tried their level best to douse the flames. However, we are trying to find out the reason behind the happening and ordered a probe.”

A sources said,” The temperature in weather had been high since last few days and that was why the Pandal went dry. A little source of fire quick engulfed the whole Pandal.”
