State’s first Kanyashree University to be set up in Nadia’s Krishnagar

Sting Newz  Service: There is going to set up a Kanyashree University in Nadia’s Krishnagar. Krishnagar Municipality has already identified the land for the university. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit Nadia in the middle of this month. It is reported that Chief Minister may then lay the foundation stone of it.

Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced of the university in a programme in Krishnagar in September this year and ordered the Krishnagar Municipality to find land for the same. Chatterjee told soon after identify the land, the university will be set up. Since then, the municipality started to find land for it.

After search, finally the land was found in in Godadanga area under Krishnagar Municipality. Municipality has decided to hand over the land to Higher Education Department for establishing the same.

Nadia district Magistrate Sumit Gupta, Nadia Police Super Rupesh Kumar, Tehatta MLA Gouri Shankar Dutta along with Krishnagar Municipality Chairman Ashim Saha visited the proposed land and all liked it.

Nadia District Magistrate Sumit Gupta told Sting Newz, “We visited the land yesterday (Tuesday). We are preparing to send the proposal of the land to the education department and the education department will finalize whether there will be set up the university in that land or not?”

Krishnagar Municipality Chairman Ashim Saha told Sting Newz, “There is a 14 acre land of the municipality in Godadanga area. Education Minister wanted only a 10 acre land from us, which is available. Our DM, ADM (LR), SP, Tehatta MLA Gouri Shankar Dutta and I visited the land on Tuesday. All liked the same. It was decided that there will be set up the Kanyashree University. There is a dumping ground of that land area. So it has to be removed from there. From today, we have already started to clean the land. Many tractors, GCPs are working there for the same ”

“Our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit this month. It is expected that she may lay the foundation stone of it then,” added Saha.

Saha also stated that if the Kanyashree University is established here, the socio-economic condition will changed. The students of Krishnagar, Karimpur and Murshidabad district will get benefit of it. Krishnagar will be turned into a educational hub.”
Saha is also willing to give land of the municipality at free of cost to any popular IT company for establishing IT institution in Krishnagar.
