Sting Newz, New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrival in the national capital for the 18th BRICS Summit has brought heightened attention to his elaborate security arrangements, including his heavily armoured Aurus Senat limousine.
Known for travelling with an extensive security convoy, Putin is accompanied on foreign visits by his specially customised presidential vehicle. The Aurus Senat, often described as a “fortress on wheels”, is a bulletproof and blast-resistant luxury limousine designed to provide the Russian leader with maximum protection.
The vehicle is among the most closely guarded presidential cars in the world, with details of its armour and security systems kept largely confidential. Putin’s convoy generally consists of around two dozen vehicles, forming a tightly coordinated security arrangement around the Russian president.
The Aurus Senat was introduced in 2018 as part of Russia’s Kortezh project, an initiative aimed at developing domestically produced luxury and armoured vehicles for senior government officials. The car is manufactured by Aurus Motors, a joint venture involving Russia’s state research institute NAMI, Sollers JSC and UAE-based Tawazun Holding.
