Arnab Majumder, Sting Newz, Nadia: For the past eight to nine months, contractual security guards working in government hospitals have been carrying out their duties without receiving any salary. In protest, the guards of Krishnagar District Hospital and several other government hospitals staged a demonstration on Tuesday in front of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) office in Krishnagar, Nadia, demanding the immediate release of their long-pending wages.

According to the protesting guards, they have been working without pay for 8–9 consecutive months despite performing their duties with full responsibility. They allege that even after repeatedly submitting appeals to the hospital superintendent and the district health authorities, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.

The protesters said that earlier, when they had appealed to the District Health Officer regarding the salary delay, he had assured them that the matter would be addressed within a specific timeframe. However, several months have passed since then, and they are still being forced to work without pay.

Left with no other option, the contractual security workers gathered today in front of the CMOH office with placards, demanding the immediate release of their pending salaries. They warned that if their dues are not cleared soon, they may be compelled to intensify their agitation.
