Arnab Majumder, Sting Newz, Nadia: A major sensation spread across Nabadweep after a large number of voter ID cards were recovered from an abandoned area near Pratappanagar Hospital Road. Police rushed to the spot and have begun verifying the authenticity of the cards.
According to locals, the names and addresses printed on the recovered cards match those of residents in the area. However, the individuals concerned claim that their original voter IDs are safely at home. This has triggered serious questions about how duplicate or counterfeit cards bearing the same details ended up on the roadside.
The incident has sparked political tension.
The BJP alleged that they had already warned of possible irregularities in the SIR-like atmosphere, and this recovery is “proof” of their claims. They accused the Trinamool Congress of resorting to malpractice out of fear.
