‘Aarya Sports Cup 2025’ Shines in Dhubulia; Rupsa Queen Tehatta Crowned Champions

Sting Newz / Nadia: A grand cricket tournament, ‘Aarya Sports Cup 2025’, was held last Wednesday at the grounds of Deshbandhu High School in Dhubulia, Nadia. The event was organised by Dhubulia resident and cricket enthusiast Jayanta Sarkar to celebrate the eighth birthday of his elder daughter. This year marked the second edition of the tournament.

A total of 12 teams participated in the day-long competition. Each match was played with tennis balls in a 6-over format. Teams from different corners of West Bengal—including Darjeeling, Kolkata, Durgapur, and Kharagpur—took part, and several well-known tennis cricket players were seen in action.

In a thrilling contest, Rupsa Queen Tehatta emerged as the champions, while Royal Boyz Darjeeling finished as the runners-up. The champion team received Rs. 1,20,000 in cash along with the champions’ trophy. The runners-up were awarded Rs. 80,000 and a trophy. Cricketer Jagat Sarkar was named the Man of the Series and was gifted a 32-inch smart TV.

The tournament drew thousands of cricket lovers to the school grounds. To enhance the viewing experience, a giant screen was set up on the field. The entire event was streamed live on YouTube with commentary available in Bengali, English and Hindi. With its professional setup and electrifying atmosphere, the tournament provided spectators with the flavour of a national-level cricket event.
