Arnab Majumder, Sting Newz Correspondent, Krishnagar (Nadia): The dirty water of a drain enters home and turned daily life horrible. So, demanding the solve, a couple of senior citizens sat in demonstration before the Chamber of local SDO. It happened at Krishnanagar in Nadia on Tuesday.
Sushant Ghosh and his wife Krishna Ghosh are the residents of world 15 of Krishnanagar municipality. Both are senior citizens. As the drainage system of their locality has turned their lives into a hell, they sat in demonstration before the office of SDO Sadar, Manish Verma.
According to a sources, the couple had informed the situation to the Municipal Chairperson and to the SDO a several times. But finding no results, they took the way of silent agitation. Consequently, Verma assured them to look into the matter. They then refrained from their movement.
Verma said,”Since long there is no reformation of Anjana Khal. So the water is getting stagnant in front of the home of the said couple at Bejikhali crossing. In addition, there are two shops of meat and confectionery. They throw garbages to the water body in front of their home.” SDO more said that they had been staying there since 2013 and developed home after knowing the situation.
On the other hand Municipal Chairperson Ashim Saha said,” It is not the duty of Municipality to clean the logged water in individul’s homes.”
Another Senior citizen in Krishnanagar said, “Though the couple got administrative assurances but there is doubt enough how far the chance is there to solve the problem.
